As well as being one of the most ancient cities in England, along with our partners at Ripon Racecourse, we’re an official Tour de France Hub.
The Tour de France is coming to town on the 5th July and we’ve got a whole host of things lined up for you. Firstly and most importantly, Newby Hall have a park and ride set up for thousands of cars. Ripon Racecourse, our TdF Hub partners have car parking right next to the route, and other car parks are being arranged all around the city.
We have a large screen TV in the Market Square, so bring along your chairs and enjoy the race atmosphere. Food and drink are catered for with a genuine French Food market, selling hot and cold food; and we’ve also lined up a Yorkshire Food Market Marquee, courtesy of HSBC, one of our main sponsors. Select great food supplied by: The Forge, The Deli, Lockwoods, Masham Sausages and then exercise it off on a Smoothie Bike!
Yes, we’ve booked The Smoothie Bike Company, who’ll be bringing along a great exercise bike. The faster you pedal, the quicker you blend your own fresh fruit drink.
Harrogate Borough Council are also providing a number of exercise bikes in the square, so that you can try your hand at getting fit in a fun environment. All people taking part will be entered into a draw, where the prize s a brand new racing bike, courtesy of Le Tour Ripon and Moonglu Cycles.
We’ve lined up some extra entertainment for the kids. Ripon Festivals and CNG are providing a children’s entertainment tent.
We’ve booked a magician and children’s entertainer,’Bob’s Your Uncle’, who’ll be on hand all day to keep the younger members of the family interested and contented.
A face painter is also booked for both days, the 5th and 6th July, and will be on hand in the square to colour up the kids with some great designs.
Once the race has finished, Red Bull Media will be entertaining the crowd, with a series of sports action films for those with a sense of adventure. Their new film ‘Rad Company’ will lead the way – take a look here: Click Here for Video
